Ernst & Heddie Trommeshauser Obituary

TROMMESHAUSER

Ernst

November 18, 1938 – September 9, 2022

Heddie

July 8, 1946 – September 20, 2022

Ernst (Kurt Joseph) Trommeshauser was born in Leegebruch, Germany. Ernst was one of 16 children (9 sisters and 6 brothers) born to Heinrich and Klara (nee Nagler) Trommeshauser, and is survived by 1 brother, Dieter.

At the age of 22, Ernst left Germany and made his way to Toronto, Canada, where he found work in a coal mine and a machine shop. He eventually moved to Alberta where he met and married his beloved wife, Heddie on October 26, 1963.

Heddie Margrethe Trommeshauser (nee Odgaard) was born in Grenaa, Denmark to Otto Odgaard and Esther (nee Sorensen) Odgaard then, to Sartor. Heddie was the youngest and only sister to 4 brothers, and is survived by 2 brothers, Flemming and Ed.

At the age of 6, Heddie and her family immigrated from Denmark to Alberta, Canada where they initially settled and farmed in Winfield, Alberta. At the young age of 16 years, she saw a picture of a man, who was the brother of their neighbour. She instantly fell in love, saying “I’m going to marry that man”; that man was Ernst Trommeshauser.

In their 59 years together, Ernst and Heddie built a full and busy life as inseparable partners in everything; raising their 3 children, owning/operating various businesses, farming, and traveling to many destinations. They eventually moved from Alberta to Coquitlam, B.C. in 1986. Then, in 1994, they moved to their final home in Sicamous, B.C., where they owned a mobile home park and ran a small painting business for a few years, before retiring. Leisure times for Ernst and Heddie were mostly spent with family and/or friends, gardening, day trips, and fishing on their boat the “Right Track”. On many occasions they travelled down south throughout the U.S. with their holiday trailer, rarely missing a stop in Las Vegas. Once various health issues arose that forced them to slow down, they remained determined to enjoy life and continued to do everything they were capable of doing.

These two beautiful people touched so many lives. Their kind, cozy, and generous hearts, along with a great sense of humour, has left us with only warm and wonderful memories that will be treasured by all who knew them. Ernst and Heddie are survived and loved dearly by their 3 children and their spouses, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. They will live on in us all.

Ernst and Heddie passed away within 11 days of each other. Even though our hearts are very heavy and deeply saddened by this, it brings some comfort to know that they ended their journey together, inseparable, as they were in life.

A come and go Celebration of Life gathering to honour Ernst and Heddie will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 12-4 pm at their home in Sicamous, B.C.
