Yvonne passed away April 20, 2026, at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital, at the age of 87 years. Yvonne was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Leonard and Magdalena Ell on March 23, 1939.
Yvonne was a mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She will always be remembered.
Yvonne was a wonderful and giving person who will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Don Schinnour, her parents, and her brother, Norman Ell. She leaves behind a legacy of family including a brother, Myron Ell of Calgary, her three children, Shelley Dawson (Bill) of Blind Bay, Dan Schinnour of Salmon Arm, and Sandra Keehn of Armstrong. As well, she is survived by her grandchildren, Jayme Ford (Lucas), Ryan Schinnour (Susan), Korey Keehn (Katie), Kris Dawson (Sara), Jessica Schinnour (Mark), and Brad Keehn (Erin). Yvonne had 6 great-grandchildren whom she loved so much. She thoroughly enjoyed their visits and was always thrilled to meet any new additions to the family.
Yvonne was raised in Alberta and moved to BC in 1972. She had a fulfilling and exceptional career in the banking industry starting as a teller and rising to a bank manager, a title she held when she retired to the Shuswap in 2001. However, not one to retire fully, Yvonne also used her accounting skills to help out at ACL from 2003 - 2020.
Yvonne loved her community and enjoyed many activities with her friends and neighbours. She looked forward to afternoon card games, having coffee, or evening chats on summer nights where many neighbours would gather on her driveway for refreshments. Everyone was welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at Bower’s Funeral Services on May 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow.
Rest in peace, Mom, you have definitely earned it.
